◆ World Heritage Site: Shirakawa-go
In 1995, the village was registered as a World Heritage Site along with Gokayama in Toyama Prefecture as the "Gassho-style Villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama," and you can still feel the original Japanese scenery. The name "Gassho-style" comes from the resemblance of the shape of hands when clasped together in prayer, and the roof is characterized by a steep slope of 45 to 60 degrees to prevent snow accumulation.

For Tokaido, Sanyo, Kyushu, and Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen trains, from May 20, 2020 onwards, if you wish to bring on board luggage whose three sides exceed 160 cm in total (hereinafter referred to as "oversized luggage"), you must reserve a seat with an oversized luggage area in advance, so please be sure to request this when applying for your trip (there is no reservation fee, but the number of seats is limited). Even if you contact us at the last minute, we may not be able to make arrangements. Even if we are able to make a reservation, you may be separated from other passengers in the car and seat. Please note that luggage whose three sides exceed 250 cm in total cannot be brought on board. If you bring on "oversized luggage" without making a reservation in advance, you will need to pay a handling fee (1,000 yen including tax) on board, so please divide your luggage into smaller pieces as much as possible.
