<How to visit the shrine>
■ Two bows, four claps, one bow
Unlike ordinary shrines, Izumo Taisha follows a ritual of two bows, four claps, and one bow.
There are various theories about this, but they represent the four seasons and are a prayer for bountiful harvests, as well as the four directions: east, west, north, south.
It is also said that this is to show respect to the god who protects the shrine.
