World Heritage Site Gunkanjima Landing Cruise (Day 2)
[Landing tour, accompanied by a guide]
The World Heritage Site, Gunkanjima (officially known as Hashima Island), was an overcrowded city at its peak. It was closed in 1974 and is now in ruins.
It was named "Battleship Island" because its appearance resembles the battleship "Tosa."
It once thrived due to its undersea coal mines, but became deserted when the mines closed in 1974.
