Nara Yamato Four Temple Pilgrimage was formed by Hasedera Temple, Muroji, Okadera, and Abe Monjuin, located in the central part of Nara Prefecture. Central Nara Yamato is the birthplace of Japanese history since Emperor Jimmu founded the Yamato Imperial Court. The area has been dotted with many successive capitals, including Hase Asakura, Iware, Asuka, and Fujiwara-kyo, and has been called Kunnaka since ancient times. The four temples founded in this historic area all boast a history of over 1,200 years: Okadera in Asuka, Abe Monjuin in Iware, and Hasedera Temple and Muroji in Hase Asakura.
