Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is one of the world's leading mountain sightseeing routes, running through the Northern Alps, a series of peaks with elevations of around 3,000 meters. Its total length is 37.2 km, with a maximum elevation difference of 1,975 m. Almost the entire route is located within Chubu Sangaku National Park. You can easily ride from Tateyama Station in Tateyama Town on the Toyama side to Ogizawa Station in Omachi City on the Nagano side, passing through a number of scenic spots, and enjoy the majestic nature of Tateyama Kurobe, which spreads out above the clouds.

You can enjoy the spectacular view of autumn leaves a little earlier than usual.
The autumn leaves on Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route are the earliest in Japan, along with those on Mount Daisetsu in Hokkaido, and usually start changing from mid-September around Tateyama Murododaira! With an elevation difference of 1,975m from the summit to the base, you can enjoy autumn leaves at different times in various locations. This is the second most popular season after Snow Wall!

◎World Heritage Site: Beautiful Gassho-style Village, Shirakawa-go
In 1995, together with Toyama Prefecture and Gokayama, it was registered as a World Cultural Heritage site as "Gassho-Zukuri Villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama", and the original Japanese landscape can still be felt today. The roofs are called "Gassho-zukuri" because the shape of the roof resembles the shape of hands in a clasped palms, and the roof angles are steeply sloped at 45 to 60 degrees to prevent snow accumulation.

What to wear and what to bring on Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route
Large luggage can be carried on the tour bus.
The same tourist bus will take you from Tateyama Station to Ogizawa Station. You can leave Accommodation large luggage on the bus.
However, since you will not be able to return to retrieve your luggage while passing through the Alpine Route, please make sure to pack any baggage you will need during your walk (valuables, rain gear, cold weather clothing, etc.) as small as possible and bring it with you as carry-on baggage.
