・Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins: A restored townscape from the Warring States period
Ichijodani was the base of operations for the Asakura clan, which ruled Echizen for 103 years during the Sengoku period. Excavations have been carried out in recent years, and the entire townscape has been uncovered in almost perfect condition, from samurai residences, temples, town houses, craftsmen's residences, and roads, so you can enjoy the atmosphere of a castle town from the Sengoku period by walking around. It is said that Akechi Mitsuhide, who became a hot topic in the historical drama, also lived here for about 10 years.

This is the head temple of the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism, boasting a history of approximately 770 years. It was originally founded by Zen Master Dogen in 1244 as a training center for monks. Even now, more than 770 years later, the training at Eiheiji is said to be the most rigorous in Zen Buddhism, with approximately 160 trainee monks, known as unsui, living there.
